Catalytic Combustion Awarded Turn-Key Emissions Upgrade for 285 MW Gas Turbine
Posted July 15, 2019
July 15, 2019, Bloomer, WI USA - Catalytic Combustion Corporation (CCC), a leader in emission control technology for the power generation industry, announced today they were awarded a turn-key emissions system upgrade for a combined cycle gas turbine power plant with heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) located in the Northeastern United States. This project includes the services for the removal of the existing traditional CO catalyst layer and installation of new sulfur-resistant, high-performance CO catalyst manufactured in Bloomer, Wisconsin, USA at Catalytic Combustion Corporation. The power plant can run on ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD) or natural gas and having a high-performance CO catalyst that can perform well with both fuel types is crucial to keeping the facility in compliance with air emission regulations. The project has a completion deadline within fewer than ten weeks. The removal and install of new CO catalyst will be performed in five days or less.
This combined cycle gas turbine power plant company chose Catalytic Combustion Corporation because of their new sulfur resistant CO catalyst technology, which can extend the useful life of this asset more reliably than earlier technologies.
“We are very pleased to be awarded this emission upgrade project using our newest sulfur resistant CO catalyst formulation. We have a deep technical bench and product experience within our Catalyst Group and Power Emission Group. Our project management team is experienced to deliver this project on time and on budget,” said Mark Ruff, President & CEO of Catalytic Combustion Corporation.
“Our newest catalyst technology, Sulfur Resistant CO Catalyst has taken off faster than projected. More natural gas power plants across the Country are receiving variable fuel quality and this technology allows them to worry about something else in the power plant,” said Randy Sadler, Vice-President of Power Generation for their Power Emissions Group.
